About the artwork

Created in 2020, “Creature” is a contemporary wood and glass sculpture that explores the boundary between nature and imagination. Its foundation is a dramatically shaped piece of dark brown wood, featuring branching extensions, natural cavities, and irregular contours that suggest the form of an unknown living being. From different perspectives, the sculpture reveals changing silhouettes, sometimes resembling an ancient animal and at other times a mysterious, imaginary creature. The wood's rugged surface, deep recesses, cracks, and naturally formed projections create a rich and expressive texture. Two prominent sections of layered glass introduce a contrasting sense of structure. Alternating shades of warm brown, black, cream, and muted turquoise establish a rhythmic geometric pattern, while the glass follows the irregular contours of the timber. One of the sculpture's most compelling qualities is the dialogue between organic unpredictability and deliberate artistic design. The natural wood determines the artwork's distinctive character, while the carefully integrated glass layers introduce balance and visual order. Open spaces, branching forms, and subtly reflective surfaces reveal new details as the viewer moves around the sculpture. “Creature” combines an ancient, elemental presence with the expressive language of contemporary art. Rather than depicting a specific animal, the sculpture invites personal interpretation, allowing each viewer to discover a different character or story within its form. This one-of-a-kind artwork celebrates the creative relationship between nature's spontaneous shapes and human imagination.
