THE WORLD OF LUMENGLASS

Where Nature Finds New Life Through Art

LumenGlass is a distinctive online art gallery where natural forms meet contemporary glass art. I present one-of-a-kind creations by Anita Darabos, DLA, a habilitated glass artist and designer – exceptional works in which wood and glass come together in a unique and harmonious expression.

The Art of Renewal

I created LumenGlass to give original works of genuine artistic value the presentation they deserve. I believe a work of art is more than a beautiful object: it carries the artist's vision, the history of its materials, and the singular moment when natural forms are transformed into art. Every sculpture in the gallery is an individual creation with its own character and story. There are no mass-produced pieces, and no two works are ever exactly alike.

At the heart of Anita Darabos's artistic practice are the structures of nature, the cycle of materials, and the idea of renewal. Her wood-and-glass composite works draw on principles of bionics, Neo-Dada, and ecodesign. One of the most distinctive inspirations behind her research is the caddisfly larva, which constructs a protective case from materials found in its surroundings. Darabos reinterprets this natural principle in sculpture: organically shaped wood and light-transmitting glass are not merely placed alongside one another, but become equally important elements of a unified composition. Materials once discarded or overlooked are thus given new meaning and artistic value.

Throughout a professional career spanning more than three decades, Anita Darabos has developed extensive expertise in contemporary glass art, industrial design, and the restoration of architectural glass. She graduated from the Hungarian College of Applied Arts and earned her Doctor of Liberal Arts (DLA) degree with summa cum laude distinction in 2016, followed by habilitation in 2022 at the University of Pécs. She has also taught at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Her works have been presented in numerous exhibitions in Hungary and abroad and have entered museum collections. LumenGlass aims to bring this rich artistic legacy to a more personal and accessible online gallery experience.

“I live on an imaginary island, creating and recycling from the materials around me. There is no end, only rebirth. An eternal cycle.” — Anita Darabos
